Shady Grove Elementary SchoolPrincipal's Message
Dear Parents,
Any Shady Grove student will tell you that Cardinals love to get together, listen to upbeat music, and dance! Whether it’s at our Jingle Bell Jog, our Semester Recognition Assembly, or our June SOL Rally, you will find us moving together in time to the music. Therefore, our school theme for this year, “Dancing to the Beat,” celebrates our plan for synchronized movement to the “B.E.A.T.” of the values focus we have defined for the 2008-2009 school year. In our theme, BEAT is an acronym for Being kind, focusing on Effort and Achievement, and displaying Teamwork.
With our fun-filled theme and points of emphasis for character education, we are positioned for another fabulous year of learning and growing together. Thank you for your support for Shady Grove Elementary and Henrico County Public Schools. You are a vital part of our team!
Sincerely,
Regina V. Schwab

Short Pump Elementary SchoolWelcome to Short Pump Elementary! Our name comes from a short handled pump in the area which was used for water by travelers going between Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia. The surrounding community goes by the same name. Once a rural community, we are now a thriving suburban area.
We are presently a school of approximately 576 students, kindergarten through grade five, and a faculty and staff of fifty. Our school building, which opened in 1926, was renovated and expanded in 1990 to include thirty classrooms, a media center, a multi-purpose room, a cafeteria, and office space. The facility is adjacent to Short Pump Park which is used daily as a part of the school's fitness education program.
We are a school with a committed and dedicated faculty, strong parent involvement, and high achieving students. On behalf of our faculty and staff, I hope you enjoy visiting our web site. -

The Steward School: An independent K-12 schoolWelcome to Steward
K-12. One by one.
From day one to graduation day, a singular level of personal attention.
You know your child as an individual. In strengths and frailties, likes and dislikes, little quirks and significant charms, you see and embrace the uniqueness of the person whose life you wish to be happy and fruitful. You may know—even at an early age—something of his or her aspirations. Now you are deciding about school, where your child becomes part of that coming together referred to as the “student body” or simply “students.” Being part of that group has many important purposes, but so does being an individual.
The Steward School is an independent K-12 school committed to the kind of education that recognizes the individuality of each child and fosters his or her potential through an especially high degree of personal attention. One-on-one education and shared classroom and extracurricular experiences are of equal importance here. Grade by grade, you will see how rewarding that is to your child. -
Benedictine High SchoolThe name Benedictine is synonymous with Catholic values, academic excellence, leadership, and service. As a Catholic school, we believe in exemplifying and conveying the basic tenets and values of the Faith. They should guide our conduct in everyday life.
As an academic preparatory school, our curriculum and standards are established to prepare our graduates for study at a quality four-year institution of higher learning.
As a school for young men, we nurture esprit de corps, camaraderie, and loyalty to our school and each other. We want our young men to grow intellectually, socially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. To that end we expect our students to participate in a broad range of available curricular and co-curricular activities.
As a military school, we are committed to developing skills in leadership, discipline, teamwork, and responsibility. We also imbue in our cadets the unique set of traditions that link each generation of cadets. -
Collegiate School; K through 12 and all through lifeWelcome to Collegiate School’s home on the web. At this site you will find a wealth of information about Collegiate academics, athletics, arts, extracurricular programs, alumni news and plans for the near- and long-term future.
Since 1915, Collegiate School has offered students an opportunity to meet high expectations of academic and personal excellence. We are proud of our students' many accomplishments and grateful for the dedicated community of faculty, administrators, trustees, parents, alumni and friends who teach, coach, support and encourage them. Behind the text and pictures you will find at this site, I trust you will also see a school striving to challenge and support young people as they grow into concerned and contributing adults.
Hopefully, our web site will be just the beginning of your association with Collegiate. I encourage you to visit our campus, meet our faculty and students and learn more about the Collegiate experience.
Enjoy your visit to our web site, and I hope to see you on campus soon!

St. Catherine’s SchoolWelcome to St. Catherine’s School on the web. I hope the extensive information you find here will encourage you to visit and experience first-hand the distinct programs and people who make this school so special.
From Miss Jennie’s pioneering vision in 1890 of a school that prepared young women for the rigors of higher education, to today’s emphasis on academic excellence, character development and spiritual growth, St. Catherine’s is a leader among independent schools. Our mission is to develop women with a passion for inquiry, intellectual exuberance, an active concern for others, and positive engagement in the world.
Put simply, St. Catherine’s is Empowering Girls for a Lifetime.
Our emphasis on excellence is wrapped within a community of teachers and students who care deeply for one another and support each girl’s success, as well as the lessons learned when she falls short of success. And, we join together in our shared mission of serving others.
A visit is the only way you can fully experience the traditions, the history and the energy that is St. Catherine’s. I look forward to meeting you on campus so I can welcome you in person and share with you everything I have come to embrace and cherish about the school. This is an energizing and exhilarating time to be a part of the St. Catherine’s family. We hope you join our family soon.
